MENTORING SCHEME

We adopt a rare, individual-focused approach to youth work, with 1:1 support for local young people at risk of social exclusion or crime.

  • mentor individuals who have had contact with the police, are absent or underperforming in schools, or who are in prison. Our youthworkers currently mentor about 20 individuals a week, and undertake 3 or 4 prison visits a month;

  • work to reduce gang and individual hostility by fostering self worth and communication through social interaction projects.  We run sessions to give youth the opportunity for positive social interaction including weekly football competitions with at risk young men between the ages of 11-24, residentials, outings, health and fitness, music and media workshops.
